Benton County Jail Release Paths
Benton County Jail is the county's sole jail and the first stop for adults booked by the Benton County Sheriff's Office and several local police agencies. Leaving that building does not always mean returning to the community. Confirm Benton County Jail Releases
The official Adult in Custody Release Report is the primary online source for a recent Benton County Jail release. It is reverse chronological, accepts all or part of a name, and covers the prior 31 days. The report refreshes daily. It is a released-person record, unlike the current roster. A coherent result has a valid Release Date and a meaningful Release Reason tied to the same booking and identity fields.
- Search the full name, then retry a distinctive partial name if no match appears.
- Match the booking or file number, arrest date, arresting agency, and case number. Do not rely on a common name alone.
- Read Release Date and Release Reason as a pair. A blank reason or malformed date is not firm confirmation.
- Check the current Benton roster. A listed contract location still means BCSO custody.

The live reports update on different schedules. The current roster should refresh about every four hours, while the release report should refresh once each day. Benton Jail Capacity Shapes Releases
The jail opened in 1976 and occupies about 8,000 square feet. It has 40 nominal beds, but classification and separation needs leave roughly 28 to 34 beds usable in practice. Classification means placing people based on safety and custody needs rather than treating every bed as interchangeable. That gap helps explain rental beds, temporary limits on new bookings, and forced releases under the Sheriff's capacity matrix.
Capacity-based release still has a specific record reason. The official glossary separates cash bail, ten-percent security, own recognizance, court orders, and matrix release. A forced pretrial release ends confinement while the case remains pending. BCSO also describes a forced release for some sentenced people as sentence served. Those are distinct events, so the court case and release code must be read together.
This local structure also explains why a person may be at Polk County Jail or Clatsop County Jail while remaining a Benton adult in custody. Polk serves the pretrial contract role. Clatsop serves the sentenced contract role. A location change is not a Benton County Jail release, and the BCSO report remains the first place to seek the eventual final event.
Each contract move should preserve a trail back to the Benton booking. When a name appears at an outside location, compare the file number and court case rather than creating a new timeline from the place name alone. That check keeps transport, confinement, and release in the right order.
Benton Jail Contract Custody
The official Benton current-custody report shows how the Location field can identify a contract site while BCSO retains custody responsibility.
The interface is useful when a caller knows the Benton booking but is unsure where the person is physically housed. Match the location, then call before arranging a pickup or assuming a release occurred.
The Sheriff's 2023 annual report said contract-housed adults were brought back to Corvallis for release. That statement predates the current Clatsop arrangement. BCSO does not publish a current release door, pickup hour, weekend procedure, waiting area, property-return deadline, or travel option. Benton Jail Release Property
BCSO says deputies inventory and secure personal property at intake, decide release eligibility, and complete release documents. Those facts support two direct questions when a release is processed: which property was returned, and which papers record the release reason and conditions. The public material does not state how long unclaimed property is held or how an error is corrected. Do not borrow another county's deadline.

Call the jail first about property held in connection with the booking. Use a narrow written request for missing or questionable release paperwork. If a court condition is unclear, obtain the order or judgment from the named court. These channels answer different questions and should not be merged into one assumption.
