Marion Hub Connects Benton Transports

The Marion County Jail transfer hub has a narrow, local role in the Benton facility map. BCSO's 2025 annual report describes a Salem hub used as a transport connection for movements involving Clatsop County Jail, the current sentenced-bed contractor. It is not identified as a routine long-term Benton placement. It is also not proof that Marion County took over the Benton criminal case.

Transport records can be easy to misread because each movement changes physical place without necessarily changing legal custody. The person may leave Clatsop, pause in Salem, return to Corvallis, or move onward while BCSO continues to control the Benton booking record. Ask where the person came from, where transport is headed, and which agency will make the next custody decision. Those questions are more reliable than treating the hub name as an outcome.

Marion Jail Hub Release Destinations

A person passing through the hub may be moving back toward Benton County, toward Clatsop contract custody, or to another destination BCSO identifies. If the ultimate event is a community release, the Benton report should show a valid Release Date and a community-type reason. If the reason is STATE, DOC NEW, TRANSFER, EXTRADITED, or another-jail wording, a receiving system must be checked.

The hub itself does not answer where the person will be picked up. The current research does not publish a Benton release door at Marion, a schedule, waiting area, weekend process, property exchange, or family pickup rule. The older 2023 BCSO report said contract-housed adults were transported back to Corvallis upon release. The Clatsop and Salem arrangement began later, so that historical practice must be verified rather than treated as a promise.

Confirm Marion Jail Hub Releases

Begin with BCSO, not with an assumption that a stop in Marion created a separate released-person record. Search the Benton current roster and note the Location, booking number, arrest date, arresting agency, and case number. Presence on that roster shows continuing BCSO custody, even if the person is outside Benton County. The roster should update about every four hours.

1. Match the exact Benton booking in the current roster and record the Location field.
2. Ask BCSO whether Salem is a transport waypoint, a temporary hold, or the current physical site.
3. Search the 31-day Benton release report for the same booking identifiers.
4. Require a coherent Release Date and Release Reason before treating BCSO custody as ended.
5. Follow a state, transfer, extradition, or another-jail reason into the named receiving system.

The release report updates daily, so a transport or same-day release can fall between reporting cycles. Dynamic records have also shown blank fields and malformed dates. These are unresolved results. Marion Hub Joined Current Contract Route

The 2025 annual report places the Salem hub in a specific change to Benton's jail network. Clatsop replaced NORCOR as the sentenced-bed partner, and Marion became the described transport connection. Old NORCOR instructions no longer describe the current contract route. This date matters because saved facility lists and older reports can be accurate for their year yet wrong for today's travel plan.

The reason for this network begins at Benton County Jail. The 1976 building has 40 nominal beds, but classification and separation needs reduce practical use to about 28 to 34. BCSO rents beds outside the county to manage that limit. Polk serves pretrial adults, Clatsop serves sentenced adults, and Marion connects Clatsop transports. These are distinct roles rather than four interchangeable jails.

This structure explains why a single name may be associated with Corvallis, Clatsop, and Salem in a short period. The location trail can document transport, but only the final reason and receiving record explain whether custody ended or continued.

Marion Jail Hub Release Records

Request the Benton booking and release record through BCSO or Benton County Counsel when the online reports do not show the full transport chain. Provide the person's name and date of birth if known, the booking or file number, arrest date, arresting agency, case number, and the dates when Salem transit may have occurred. Ask for the release date, release reason, final facility or destination, release authorization, and any available transport or transfer record.

The Benton research does not establish a public Marion hub contact, address, intake line, or release-record schedule for Benton transports. Those details are not inferred. Ask BCSO whether Marion County holds a separate physical transport log and where any such request should go. This keeps the request tied to the actual custodian instead of sending it to an office chosen only from the facility name.

Marion Jail Hub Transfer Records

BCSO release codes are administrative clues, not full court rulings. TRANSFER says custody moved. STATE and DOC NEW point toward ODOC. EXTRADITED points to another jurisdiction. A record may also name another county jail. Each code means Benton custody ended in a handoff, even though the release report uses release terminology.

Community-type reasons require their own care. Bail, security, own recognizance, citation, a court order, and a forced pretrial release can end confinement while charges and release conditions continue. SERVED or time served closes the listed custodial segment but may not end probation, registration duties, or another sentence. The arrest case number connects the BCSO result with the controlling court register.

For an ODOC destination, search Oregon Offender Search by name or SID after the county handoff. Inspect status, location, and projected release date, but do not treat a future date as the completed event. Note: A Marion transit reference never overrides a named state, jail, or extradition destination in the final Benton release record.

Marion Jail Hub Release Pickup Checks

Do not travel to Salem based only on a transport reference. Call 541-766-6866 and ask whether the person remains in transport, has reached Clatsop or Corvallis, or has completed release. Request the exact pickup city and authorized handoff point. Also ask which site holds the person's property. BCSO says jail staff inventory and secure property, but it publishes no detailed process for property held across contract moves.

Timing must be treated with the same care. A court date, sentence end, or projected release date may change, and the public release report shows a date rather than a precise hour. A detainer or new court order can alter the destination. The agency handling the person that day is the only sound source for travel instructions.

After the event, preserve the booking number, final date, reason, and destination. If the person entered community supervision in Benton, contact the BCSO Parole & Probation Division at 541-766-6887 for routing. If the person entered state custody, continue with OOS and VISOR. The hub is one link in the chain, not the final status.
