Find Benton County Released Inmates

A Benton County released inmate search must follow the record created by the system that last held the person. Benton County released inmates may return to the community, enter Oregon prison custody, move to another jail, or begin supervision. Each outcome leaves a different trail. Search for Benton County released inmates through the county release record first, then use state corrections, court, supervision, or federal sources when the release reason points elsewhere. A current jail roster answers who remains in custody. It does not serve as the lasting record for Benton County released inmates who have already left.

Benton County Release Meanings

“Released” means the Benton County Sheriff’s Office ended one period of physical custody. It does not always mean the person walked into the community or finished every legal duty. The county’s Adult in Custody Release Report may show bail, security, release on recognizance, a court order, time served, citation, dismissal, forced release, transfer, extradition, or delivery to state custody. The Release Reason determines the next source to check. A valid date paired with a meaningful reason is much stronger than simple absence from the current roster.

Several terms need care. Time served means the jail recorded that custodial segment as complete. Discharge can refer to the end of a case, sentence, or supervision term, depending on the issuing record. Probation is a community sentence and may begin without prison. Parole and post-prison supervision follow a custodial term in cases governed by those systems. A detainer is another authority’s request or basis to take custody. The record must name the system before any conclusion is drawn.

Benton County Release Types

Benton’s official code glossary turns short report labels into practical routing clues. Some reasons end confinement while a case continues. Other reasons transfer the person without a return to the community. The court record remains the durable source for a dismissal, sentence, or release order, while the jail report records the physical custody event.

Release reasonWhat it meansNext source
BAIL or SECURITYCash bail or ten-percent security ended jail confinementCourt register and release conditions
ROR, COURT, CITERecognizance, court order, or citation allowed releaseNamed circuit or municipal court

TRANSFER or EXTRADITEDAnother jail or jurisdiction received the personReceiving agency and court docket
DISCH or DISMISSEDProsecutor or case action is indicatedOfficial court register and disposition

A forced release of a sentenced adult is recorded by BCSO as sentence served, and the Sheriff says the person does not return to finish that local remainder. A pretrial forced release is different. The case, court conditions, and later supervision can remain active.

Why Benton County Forces Releases

Benton County’s small jail makes its capacity matrix more than an abstract policy. Classification and separation needs prevent every physical bed from being used for every adult. When usable space is exhausted, the matrix can support an immediate own-recognizance decision or identify a held person for forced release. Those outcomes should not be confused with acquittal or dismissal.

The official glossary distinguishes cash bail, security, recognizance, court action, and matrix release. Read the exact reason on the Benton County release record, then examine the related court case. A release code explains why confinement ended at that point. It does not decide guilt, erase the arrest, or describe every later condition.

Benton County Release Record Fields

The BCSO Adult in Custody Release Report is the strongest first online source for a recent county release. It covers the preceding 31 days and should refresh daily. Search accepts all or part of a name, while a blank search returns the full report. Match more than a name before treating a result as the correct person.

NameThe identity attached to the booking record
Booking and file numbersIdentifiers useful in calls and written requests
Arrest date and agencyWhen the custody episode began and who initiated it

The live interface has displayed blanks and malformed placeholder dates during observation. Require a coherent Release Date and Release Reason pair. The official report screenshot below shows where the county places its search and release fields.

Benton County Release Numbers Differ

The finalized 2025 BCSO annual report records 1,315 bookings, 345 SB 48 matrix releases, 70 forced releases, 684 transports, and 21,796 transport miles. The Sheriff’s live early-release page instead states 72 forced releases for 2025. Both are official sources, but they do not agree on that one count.

1,3152025 bookings
345SB 48 matrix releases
70final report forced releases

The discrepancy should stay visible rather than being smoothed away. For a specific person, use the individual release record, not an annual total. Aggregate counts explain local capacity pressure but cannot confirm one custody outcome.

Request Benton County Release Records

A written request is the durable fallback when the release is older than 31 days, the live result is malformed, or documentary proof is needed. Benton County Counsel accepts requests by email, mail, or in person. The request should be narrow enough to identify the booking and the exact release materials sought.

  1. List the person’s name and date of birth, if known, plus the booking or file number, arrest date, and arresting agency.
  2. Ask for the booking and release record, Release Date, Release Reason or type, release authorization, and facility or location at final disposition.
  3. Request an electronic copy and ask for a cost estimate before chargeable work begins. Ask separately whether certification is available.
  4. Send the request through the Benton County public-records channel. A jail-specific question can also be routed through BCSO.
  5. Use the arrest case number to obtain the court order or judgment when the legal basis for release also matters.

Benton Release Papers and Property

Jail staff inventory and secure personal property during intake and complete release documents when custody ends. BCSO does not publish a detailed post-release property pickup process, correction procedure, or retention deadline. Another county’s rule should not be imported into Benton’s records.

Call the Benton County Jail at 541-766-6866 for property routing. Use a written BCSO or County Counsel request when a release date, reason, or document appears wrong. State the booking number and the exact field in question. That creates a clear record of the correction or access issue.

Important: Do not visit a contract jail for property based only on an old location field. Ask BCSO which office holds the item and which facility completed release.

Benton County Release Record Law

Oregon Public Records Law, ORS 192.311 through 192.478, governs access to nonexempt public records. ORS 192.324 allows fees reasonably calculated to reimburse actual cost. ORS 192.329 calls for completion as soon as practicable and without unreasonable delay. The statutory process may pause for a fee notice, payment, or needed clarification, so it should not be reduced to a fixed production promise.

Online visibility is not the same as legal retention. The BCSO report’s 31-day window does not show how long the agency must keep every underlying file. Court and agency records can last longer. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, protected, sealed, or set-aside material may be unavailable through a public search. Under ORS 137.225, a granted set-aside can seal records as the law directs. A missing public result may therefore reflect time limits, sealing, or system scope.

Find Benton County Released Inmates

Begin with the source that recorded the last known custody. Benton’s county release report is first for a recent jail event. The current roster is a cross-check, not the released-person database. If a code shows state, transfer, extradition, or another jail, follow the receiving system.

  1. Search the BCSO release report by full name, then retry a distinctive partial name.
  2. Match the booking number, arrest date, agency, and case number before accepting the identity.
  3. Read Release Date and Release Reason together. Route a transfer code to the receiving agency.
  4. Compare the current roster. A Benton, Polk, or Clatsop location can still mean active BCSO custody.
  5. For an ODOC transfer, search OOS by name or SID and inspect the actual status, location, and projected date returned.
  6. Use the named court for the release order, judgment, dismissal, or later set-aside.
  7. After 31 days, request BCSO release paperwork. Use BOP, ICE, or federal court sources only for the matching federal system.

Important: A released adult normally drops off the current roster. Absence alone is unresolved until a release reason, receiving-custody record, court order, or agency document explains it.

The Benton County 24-Hour Releases page explains the date-based same-day view within the county’s broader report.

Where Benton County Releases Happen

A person listed at Polk or Clatsop can remain in Benton custody while housed outside the county. BCSO’s 2023 annual report said adults in rented beds were transported back to Corvallis for release. That fact is useful history, but the present Clatsop contract began later. It does not prove today’s pickup door or city.

BCSO has not published an exact release entrance, hour, weekend procedure, waiting area, or transportation plan. Call 541-766-6866 on the day of the expected event. Ask where the adult is physically housed, which agency will execute release, where property is held, and whether transport to Corvallis is planned. A location change or a trip through the Marion County hub is not release.

Benton County Recent Release Search

Benton publishes one reverse-chronological, 31-day report instead of separate official 24-hour and 72-hour feeds. The interface exposes a release date but no verified release time in the observed field set. A “last 24 hours” view is therefore an approximate date check of today and, when needed, yesterday. A three-day view uses the prior three calendar dates.

The current roster should refresh about every four hours, while the release report should refresh once daily. Short mismatches can occur. A person may leave the current list before the release entry appears. Conversely, an old booking or malformed value may remain visible. Call the jail for an urgent status check and request the written record when the result stays unclear.

The current Benton County roster shows the contract Location field that helps separate placement from release.

This current-custody view is a comparison source. It should never replace the release report for someone who has left BCSO custody.

Benton County Supervision After Release

The BCSO Parole and Probation Division handles day-to-day community supervision for adults residing in Benton County on probation, parole, and post-prison supervision. The Oregon Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision sets many conditions and makes specified release decisions, but it does not perform routine local supervision.

No public Benton person-name parole or probation search was verified. Call the local division at 541-766-6887 and ask which office can route a status question. Disclosure limits may apply. If the person moved to another state, the ODOC Interstate Compact page links to the public transfer portal. Absence from Benton supervision does not itself prove discharge.

Definitions and verification steps appear on the Benton County Post-Release Supervision page.

Benton Release Transition Support

Benton’s 2021 through 2023 Community Corrections plan described a Transition Officer making “reach-ins” about 90 days before certain ODOC releases to Benton on short-term transitional leave, parole, or post-prison supervision. The work coordinated clothing, transportation, notices, and community resources before the person left prison.

The present BCSO programs page also describes a structured, drug- and alcohol-free Transition Center for up to six clients. The older reach-in timing should be read as dated program evidence, not a promise that every current case follows the same schedule. Together, the sources show a local handoff from state custody to Benton Community Corrections.

Benton Release Records Across Courts

The arrest-case number in the county report points toward the court that can explain the legal order. Benton Circuit Court serves the 21st Judicial District. Corvallis Municipal Court separately handles qualifying city-law matters, while Philomath and Monroe municipal courts also appear in the state registry. Follow the court printed on the citation or case record.

Oregon’s free court search guidance covers basic access. OJCIN OnLine provides the Register of Actions and judgment docket for covered state-court matters. Free OECI terminals sit outside Room 106 at Benton Circuit Court, and copies may be requested by email, secure drop box, or mail. The court estimates one to two weeks. OJCIN is not a universal municipal archive.

Use the Benton court records-access page to check current copy routes.

The court order explains legal authority and conditions. Pair it with the BCSO report when the physical release date also matters.

Benton Release Alerts and Federal Records

Oregon’s current notification system is VISOR, which replaced legacy VINE and VINELink. It covers county jails, ODOC, Community Corrections, the Board, and Oregon Youth Authority. Search by full or partial name, SID, or County ID. The result template can show custody status, status date, earliest release date, location, and registration options.

VISOR alerts can report release, transfer, custody, or projected-date changes by phone, text, email, or TTY. They are near-real-time notifications, not certified records. Read the event and check the matching BCSO, ODOC, Board, or court source. A person fully discharged with no supervision may no longer be searchable.

Federal systems stay separate. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal releases after 1982 and can show Location as RELEASED with a past date. ICE’s locator covers current and some recent immigration custody. USMS has no public prisoner locator, so federal pretrial release must be checked in the federal court docket.

Compare Benton County Release Sources

Each source answers a narrow custody question. Match the record to the agency instead of searching every name in one database and treating no result as proof.

Benton County Jail Shapes Releases

The Benton County Jail was built in 1976 and occupies about 8,000 square feet. It expanded from 27 to 40 physical beds, but separation and classification needs leave about 28 to 34 beds functional in practice. That structure helps explain forced releases, rented beds, and short closures to new bookings.

Polk takes Benton pretrial adults under the current contract, while Clatsop takes sentenced adults. In 2025, Clatsop replaced the older NORCOR arrangement. Some Clatsop transports connect through a Marion County hub in Salem. These moves can put a person far from Corvallis while BCSO remains responsible for the custody record. Check Location, Release Date, and Release Reason as separate facts.

Benton County Release Facility Map

Benton County Jail is the county’s only jail, but BCSO rents beds and uses other systems. Polk houses Benton pretrial adults. Clatsop houses sentenced adults under the current arrangement. Marion serves as a transport hub for some Clatsop movements. None of those location changes proves community release.

The remaining pages explain state, federal, immigration, and federal pretrial custody routes. ODOC institutions are statewide, BOP institutions are national, ICE detention is civil immigration custody, and USMS pretrial custody has no public locator.
